Why do high schoolers need to learn good visual presentation design?
In school, your children are asked to make presentations for almost every subject. But is anyone teaching them how?
"Learning the fundamentals of visual communication will help students engage their audience," says Ianna Rallonza, graphic design professional. "The key lessons are on form and content -- it not only looks good; it's also easy to understand and is more exciting to watch."
Here's why your high school child will benefit from learning good visual presentation design:
Effective communication. Visual presentation design helps students to communicate their ideas more effectively. This is especially important in academic settings where they need to present their research findings or persuade their classmates to support their arguments.
Professionalism. Good visual presentation design skills are highly valued in the workplace. Learning these skills early on can give students a competitive edge in their future careers.
Creativity. Visual presentation design allows students to express their creativity in a visual way. This can help them to engage their audience and make their presentations more memorable.
There are many tools for format: Powerpoint, Canva, and Google Slides, to name just a few. Content is where many students struggle. The critical skill to teach is what information and visuals to include -- and what to exclude. Learning how to create an engaging and effective presentation needs guided practice and feedback.
This summer, The Learning Library offers a special workshop called VISUAL PRESENTATION DESIGN -- completely online, for children age 12 and above. For details, visit this link.
