Program Description

The course is aimed at introducing the core concepts of Visual Design Presentation to young students for their use in future presentations and school projects. The workshop will focus on helping them visualize information for effective presentations guided through appropriate data gathering along the way, while also encouraging a creative approach to their output.

Course Outline

1 | Intro to Information Design

  • An introduction to the concepts of Information Design and its early practicality to students

2 | Good vs. Bad Design

  • A session dedicated to discerning areas in need of improvement with sample infographics, and how to fix them with the basic principles of design

3 | Slideshow Presentations

  • The basics on how to make clean and concise presentations that aren’t just a scripts on screen

4 | Research

  • How data becomes information; where and how to find reliable information, citation, and pairing the data with the appropriate infographic approach for easy digestion

5 | Thinking Outside the Text Box

  • How visuals greatly streamline the delivery of information at a glance, and assembling infographics

6 | The Right Type: Typography / Project Pitching

  • Fonts and formatting; what the situation calls for and how to use them, and the discussion and conceptualization on the final project to be presented on the 8th session

7 | Workshop

  • Working and tweaking student presentations before the big day

Ianna Rallonza

Teacher Ianna is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. She graduated from the UP Diliman College of Fine Arts under the Visual Communication program. She specializes in editorial illustration and has experience in graphic design in agency settings. One of her goals is to share her own interest in Visual Communication, because everyone can learn to be a designer in their own way!
